house tour - Paddington cottage

LET ME TAKE YOU ON A HOUSE TOUR OF OUR PADDINGTON COTTAGE AND SHOW YOU HOW WE injectED life & colour into THIS CONTEMPORARY QUEENSLAND HOME for a young family.

We were engaged to decorate and furnish this architect designed Queenslander home for a professional couple with two young children.

We decorated this home keeping in mind that this is a family home where children play, adults work from home and friends come over - a home that is fun, lively and welcoming.

ENTRY - Fun from the moment you open the door

The bespoke scalloped sisal rug takes you on a journey through the entry of the home past the bedrooms and into the living areas.

Guest Bedroom - an inspiring room for visitors

Opening off the entry, the guest room is transformed into an inviting place to stay with pretty mint green on the walls, vibrant artwork and classic natural timber furnishings.

MAIN BEDROOM - a calming space for a good night’s sleep

With white walls, white shutters and white bedside lights, this room was originally designed as a minimalist space but my client wanted to introduce more personality and colour into her bedroom. By adding a soft blue colour to the walls, grounding the bed with a turquoise rug and introducing bespoke furnishings in Christopher Farr Cloth Peonies fabric, natural good quality bedlinen, and artwork the space was transformed to a room she now loves to spend time in. The contemporary green glass mirror is a showstopper.

TOM’S BEDROOM - Designed to grow up with him

The blue/green palette continues into Tom’s room in shades of aqua, sage green and navy in a way that is perfect for a young boy but will also suit him as a teenager. The flexible String furniture cabinetry is a good solution for showcasing his lego creations and doing his homework.

LILY’S BEDROOM - a room to create and dream

Lily loves drawing, building things and creating so the String furniture is perfect to spend time drawing and display her favourite things. The colour palette for her bedroom was inspired by her pink bed and the cute prints are by a local brisbane artist, Holly from Paperhands.

KIDS’ PLAYROOM & TV ROOM - a creative & fun place to play

The kids area felt a bit too serious and grown up so we added colourful cabinetry, playful ottomans and rugs to create a more playful and fun atmosphere.

MUDROOM - a place to store all the school stuff

The moody mudroom is designed essentially for the kids to store their school bags, hats, shoes and sports gear with a locker dedicated to each child as well as room for trainers, gumboots and to bags and hats.

POOLSIDE COURTYARD - transformed into a chic retreat

The outdoor pool courtyard overlooking the suburb of Paddington was transformed from an overgrown grassy patch into a chic tiled space featuring sturdy and stylish outdoor furniture by French brand Fermob.
